Our Story

It all started in Norfolk, Virginia, where my newly commissioned partner and I met while stationed aboard one of the many Arleigh Burke-class destroyers lining Norfolk's naval base. We clicked right away—bonding over Navy life and a shared love of travel. We quickly became each other’s go-to liberty buddies when our ship would hit port on our first combat deployment later that year.

After months of intense operations protecting merchant vessels from anti-ship ballistic missiles in the Red Sea, we finally got to head north of the Suez and get some well-earned R&R on the Greek island of Crete. While exploring Souda Bay, we were captivated by the culture—and stunned by the quality and affordability of the leather goods sold in the local markets. These handcrafted pieces were better made than a majority of items we’d seen back home, and cost a fraction of the price.

From that day forward we began planning on how we can bring these hand crafted products back home to our friends and family without the added price tag. If locals of the Mediterranean can have quality leather, why cant you and I? Why couldn’t everyday people have access to the same craftsmanship—without the artificial scarcity and inflated prices from big-box brands? That’s how Summit Trading Company was born. Our mission is simple: to source high-quality, handcrafted leather goods from around the world and bring them directly to you—no gimmicks, no huge markups, just honest value. We keep our inventory small and curated so you know every item is something we’d proudly use ourselves.
